Providence Care Transitioning to Mohawk Medbuy’s Pharmacy Services

Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is pleased to announce that Providence Care will be transitioning to our comprehensive Pharmacy Services. MMC provides value-based sourcing and contract management services to hundreds of Canadian hospitals for a wide range of medical/surgical and pharmaceutical products, capital equipment and nutrition solutions. Providence Care, which already utilizes several MMC services, is the latest Eastern Ontario health care organization to onboard to MMC’s Pharmacy offering.

“We’re extremely pleased by the confidence that Providence Care and other health care providers in the region are placing in MMC’s Pharmacy Services,” said Ally Dhalla, MMC’s Senior Vice President, Pharmacy and Clinical Services & Innovation. “Our integrated Pharmacy solutions are designed to address the unique challenges of diverse patient care environments. We look forward to partnering with Providence Care’s pharmacy team to support their delivery of high-quality, compassionate care for inpatient, long-term care and community clinic settings.”

Pharmacies are a central component of health care, and MMC provides a comprehensive contract portfolio backed by vital support for pharmacy staff. Our industry-leading supply disruption management program, MitigAID, provides a centralized source of truth during manufacturer supply disruptions – reducing pharmacy staff workload and minimizing risk to patients. MitigAID also features an automated reimbursement component, which frees reduces the administration required to recoup the incremental cost of alternative products when the contracted item is on backorder.

“We’re excited to expand our partnership with Mohawk Medbuy and onboard their comprehensive Pharmacy Services,” says Providence Care’s Vice President of Finance and Digital Transformation Jonathon Bingeman. “Their Pharmacy Services are exceptionally well-aligned with our needs, and programs like MitigAID will allow us to focus on what matters most – delivering high-quality, compassionate care to our patients, clients, and residents. This partnership further strengthens our commitment to providing the best possible care in a complex and evolving health care environment.”

Providence Care is part of the growing number of Ontario health care organizations transitioning to MMC’s not-for-profit, shared services model. In Southeastern Ontario, hospitals including Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Brockville General Hospital have recently joined MMC for Pharmacy. Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Halton Healthcare, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Sinai Health, The Ottawa Hospital and Scarborough Health Network have also moved their sourcing and contract management of pharmaceutical products to Mohawk Medbuy over the past two years.
