OBIO® and Mohawk Medbuy Partner to Advance Healthcare Innovation in Canada
OBIO®, a not-for-profit, membership-based organization dedicated to advancing health technology innovation and commercialization, and Mohawk Medbuy (MMC) have formed a partnership that aims to advance emerging healthcare technology companies in Canada.
As a not-for-profit, supply chain organization, MMC is trusted by hundreds of Canadian hospitals to deliver value and innovation on healthcare supplies, equipment and services. Through this new partnership, MMC will provide procurement support and complement OBIO’s Early Adopter Health Network (EAHN™) by connecting small and medium enterprises to source opportunities either directly or through MMC’s Innovation LaunchPad program.
OBIO’s EAHN™ matches Canadian health technology companies with a national network of more than 80 health care organizations. The program supports health technology companies and health care organizations to evaluate technologies in a real-world setting, widely disseminate technologies that prove value-producing, and create showcase sites to demonstrate successful Canadian technologies to the global market.
MMC’s Innovation LaunchPad fosters the introduction of new products and services to Member hospitals and other related health organizations. Vendor offerings must meet MMC’s program requirements based on health care’s quintuple aim – enabling measurable, incremental improvements to:
Patient health
Delivery of care
Safety of patients and/or health care providers
Administrative efficiencies
Environmental sustainability
“Our Members look to us to support advances in health care delivery,” says Ally Dhalla, Senior Vice President, Pharmacy, Innovation, Government and Clinical Services. “With this partnership, we will empower early stage health sciences companies in Canada by opening the door to real-world evaluation with our diverse Membership. In turn, this provides our Members with exposure to novel, domestically sourced products and services – strengthening supply chain resilience and enhancing health care delivery.”
“OBIO’s EAHN™ is incredibly successful at validating Canadian health technologies in real-world settings, and our partnership with Mohawk Medbuy creates the vital, streamlined pathway from validation to system-wide adoption,” says Dr. Maura Campbell, President and CEO of OBIO®. “By connecting our EAHN™- evaluated innovations directly with one of Canada's largest not-for-profit, shared services organizations, we are ensuring that impactful Canadian technologies can be adopted to reach patients faster.”
