Mohawk Medbuy Proud to Support Student Nutrition Programs

The Government of Ontario recently announced expanded funding for student nutrition. This marks a significant step forward in enhancing student health and well-being for Ontario.

Since 2013, Mohawk Medbuy’s MEALsource service line has been committed to supporting student nutrition, recognizing the critical role it plays in academic performance and overall health.

The MEALsouce team collaborates with many of the Lead Agencies and community partners that implement and administer nutrition programs across Ontario regions. With over 1000 products on contract – prioritizing local suppliers where possible –MEALsource maximizes value and efficiency while meeting the unique procurement needs of each region.

“We applaud this funding initiative to prioritize quality student nutrition as it will help regional programs across the province reach more students and allow them to concentrate on learning. We are proud to assist with the sourcing of high quality, nutritious food offerings in our contracts,” said Wendy Smith, Sourcing Manager for the MEALsource team. “Providing healthy food choices allows kids to concentrate on learning and highlights the significance of nutritious food for their growth.”

In addition to student nutrition programs, MMC’s MEALsource provides nutrition procurement for hospitals, long-term care facilities and child welfare agencies through its not-for-profit shared services structure. More than 300 organizations across Ontario, PEI, and Alberta’s broader public sector benefit from the added value and efficiencies provided by MEALsource.

Collaborating with government bodies and community partners is essential to ensuring that every student has access to nutritious meals. Together, we can drive positive change in educational outcomes.
