Mohawk Medbuy Finalizes Agreement to Acquire Northern Supply Chain

Mohawk Medbuy (MMC) is happy to announce the finalization of our agreement to acquire Northern Supply Chain (NSC). This move reinforces the health care supply chain in Northern Ontario and further consolidates public sector sourcing in the province, in alignment with government objectives.

“We’re extremely pleased to welcome NSC Members, staff, vendors and partners to Mohawk Medbuy,” said Karen Berti, Chief Integration & Customer Experience Officer & VP, Accounts Payable of MMC. “After years of collaboration between both organizations, this acquisition is a natural next step that will drive additional value for health care, child welfare and broader public sector organizations in the province.”

Acquiring NSC expands MMC’s team and provincial footprint with a regional office in Thunder Bay that will be supported by former NSC staff. As well as adding 33 new Member hospitals and other health care providers across Northern Ontario, the move also brings the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS) and all 50 of its child welfare agencies into the Mohawk Medbuy fold. Continuing to support these organizations in providing the best possible outcomes for the patients and families in their care is a priority for MMC.

“We know these organizations are in good hands with Mohawk Medbuy,” said Peter Myllymaa, VP, Operations, Clinical & Support Services & Chief Financial Officer for Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. “MMC has the scope, scale and systems to achieve value-driven outcomes, build innovation and support the best quality care for patients and families across Northern Ontario.”

The acquisition was strongly endorsed by NSC’s Membership in April 2022, and the transaction closes on June 15, 2022.
