Senior Developer, Team Lead

We are currently recruiting a full-time Senior Solution Developer, Team Lead to support our Information Technology Team. The position will be based at our London, ON location.

Summary of Position:

The Solution Developer, Team Lead is a hands-on developer that also leads a small team of senior and junior developers to deliver high-quality software. Acting as a hands-on scrum master, the Solution Developer, Team Lead will not only be one of the senior developers on the team but will also facilitate the team through its Agile ceremonies. This person will work with product stakeholders on business/customer needs to define system specifications and requirements, then drive development efforts. Ultimately the Solution Developer, Team Lead represents the development team in the software development process.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Work closely with Product Owners to effectively create, maintain and groom the product backlog and ensure that requirements and customer expectations are met

  • Facilitate the team through Agile Scrum ceremonies to develop software based upon the prioritized product backlog

  • Remove impediments impacting the team’s ability to meet commitments

  • Continuously collaborate with other Senior Solution Developers to provide assistance and support whenever possible

  • Lead, implement and approve development standards and best practices and assist in their enforcement

  • Act as a resource for their team on policies, procedures and technical issues

  • Execute design and code reviews of software components developed by other team members

  • Develop and produce software components in alignment with standard frameworks and design patterns

  • Create and conduct automated unit and integration tests, facilitating all team members to assist in their creation and execution

  • Review current software to identify defects and opportunities to improve performance and stability

  • Promote extensibility and reusability in application design and coding

  • Identify and implement methods to improve team productivity and efficiency

  • Identify and recommend new software development tools to improve team productivity and efficiency

  • Accountable for the quality of software delivered by the Development team including adherence to development standards and frameworks

  • Enhance development and quality assurance processes to ensure high code quality and maintainability

  • Ensuring the team’s ability to meet delivery commitments

  • Providing a high degree of visibility into the health and performance of the Development team

  • Continuous improvement of the team’s velocity


Technical Requirements:

  • 8+ years software development experience, ideally full stack

  • Development experience with ERP, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV – C/SIDE & C/AL programming language

  • Extensive expertise in a variety of OOP languages (Java, C#, C++, ASP.NET) and web technologies (HTML 5, CSS, Javascript, Jquery)

  • SQL Server, stored procedures, stored functions, database profiling and tuning, etc

  • Setup and manage Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery workflow using Git

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred. Related technical and/or operational certifications and training related to software development.

Mandatory Experience:

  • Leading a team and being hands-on or having a desire for a leadership role

  • A self-starter, able to lead senior developers, collaborate with vendors and consultants

  • Highly-developed trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills

  • Experience mentoring and fostering technical excellence in a team

  • Experience in presenting complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing

  • Experience with team software development process: design, testing, coding and peer reviews

  • Strong working experience in iterative software delivery methodologies Agile, SCRUM, etc.

  • Experience with DevOps methodology
